Pre-game vs. Syracuse 11/2

Greetings from the Civic Center, where the Phantoms and Syracuse are getting ready to play the second half of an unconventional home-and-home. They played Sunday, had a week of practice and will do it again tonight. Cal Heeter, Sunday's winning goalie, gets the start on his 24th birthday.

Big news in the NHL today is the cancellation of the Winter Classic. Trivia time: There have been two players in the history of the league to score their first NHL goal in the Winter Classic. They'll both be in the Adirondack Phantoms line-up tonight. See if you can name them in the comments.

In case you missed them, game preview here.  Chronicle of Matt Ford's return to the line-up here.

Lines below. Looks like Syracuse will go with seven defensemen again. They've also got Eric Neilson, who did color commentary on Sunday's broadcast, in for P.C. Labrie. In addition to Ford in for the injured Mangene, Adirondack has Lauridsen in for FitzGerald and new line combinations.
